Mary Evelyn (Thomas) Bosstick

Mary Evelyn Bosstick, 89, Farmersburg, passed away at 11:05 p.m., March 3, 2017 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Sullivan.

She was born in Parke County, on May 24, 1928, the daughter of Orville and Margaret (Miller) Thomas. Evelyn was a LPN at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, working in the Oncology unit. She was also amongst the first employees at the Hooks Rehab Center when it opened. She was a member of the Sullivan County Home Ec Club Evening Bells and was a former 4-H leader. She belonged to the Swinging Mates Square Dance Club. Besides being a farm wife, she and her husband, John Basil Bosstick, were lucky enough to travel to Africa, Brazil and Jamaica and take several trips around the United States.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Johnny Chris Bosstick; six brothers, Richard, Bill, Bob, Donald “Wink,” Mick and Larry Dale Thomas; and one sister, Judy Williams.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, John Basil Bosstick, whom she married on Feb. 12, 1949; one son, Ronald Bosstick, Farmersburg; two daughters, Sue (and Tom)  McKinley, Urbana, Illinois, and LeAnn (and Terry) Wenzel, Shelbyville, Tennessee; three sisters, Gail Lenover, Marshall, Jane (and Lewis) Kent, Rockville, and Florence Smith, Oakwood, Illinois; 13 grandsons, Ronald Jr., John, Shane (and Melissa), Jason (and Amanda), Joey, and Harold Bosstick, Koty, Justin, and Kyle Hoesman, Jeremy (and Jessica), Luke, and Clayton (and Heather) Turnbaugh, and Spencer Ferenczy; and 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters in-law, Phyllis Thomas and Mildred Thomas; several nieces and nephews; and her cats Tiny and Blackie.

Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 10, at Brust Funeral Home, Sullivan, with funeral services at 1 p.m. that day, with the Rev. Don Ransford officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, Farmersburg.
