Patrick A. Hines

Patrick A. Hines aka Santa, 55, of Sullivan, Indiana passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Union Hospital.

He was born on May 7, 1960 in Terre Haute, Indiana the son of James Shurtzer and Frances Hines. Patrick graduated from Sullivan High School in 1979. He married Peggy Mason of August 15, 1981 and worked for the city of Sullivan of 30 years.

Patrick is preceded in death by his grandfather Frank Hines, father James Shurtzer, mother Frances Hines Poore, step-father Claude Crabbe, brother Kenny Shurtzer and step-brother Clarence Crabbe.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years Peggy Hines, two sons; Ricky (Lisa) Southwood and James (Julie) Hines, daughter Carmen Hines all of Sullivan, Indiana, grandmother Jean Hines of Terre Haute, Indiana, step-father Bill Poore of Terre Haute, Indiana, step-mother Elizabeth Elmore Shurtzer of Leland, North Carolina, three brothers; Allen Crabbe of Linton, Indiana, Jim (Jo) Shurtzer of Merom, Indiana and JB Shurtzer of Leland, North Carolina, four sisters;  Sandy (Rick) Scott of Jasonville, Indiana, Jennifer (Dale) Browne of Sullivan, Indiana, Elizabeth “Sissy” (Melvin) Reynolds of Rockport, North Carolina and Ginger (Joseph) Desfonds of Leland, North Carolina, seven grandchildren; Austin Wright, Breanna Kirkley, Justin Wright, Samantha Wright, Alexander Hines, Caitlin Hines and Helena Hines, two-great grandchildren; Harland Piker and Hunter Kirkley.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana with Rev. Raji Hollifield officiating. Interment will follow in Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan, Indiana. Friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, and from 9:00AM until services on Thursday.
