Phyllis Evelyn (Grimes) Bogard

Phyllis Evelyn Bogard, 78, of Merom, Indiana, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2016, at her home in Merom.

            She was born on August 10, 1938, in Sullivan County, Indiana, the daughter of Otis Grimes and Florence Vest McKain. Phyllis worked at the Merom Conference Center and was a cook and housekeeper. She attended Wabash Valley Community Church and fostered over 85 children.

            Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Jerry McKain, and one son-in-law, Tab Schmidtz.

            Survivors include her step-mother, Peggy Grimes of Sullivan, one son, Kenny Bogard (Jacqui) of Carlisle, one daughter, Sherry Schmidtz of Merom, two sisters, Debbie Kinneman (Greg) of Sullivan, and Loretta Grimes of Sullivan, one step-sister, Bonnie Flynn of Sullivan, six grandchildren, Grant Bogard (Casey) Lindsay Lesh (Kevin), Bonnie Delinger, and Bryan Delinger (Kelly), Jenny Holman (Bob) and Jessica Keller (Skylar), and five great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana, with Pastor John Moyer officiating. Interment will follow in Merom Cemetery in Merom, Indiana. A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, November 7, 2016. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Wabash Valley Community Church in Sullivan.
