Richard Leon Holbert

Richard Leon Holbert Sr., 70, of Sullivan passed away at 3:30 AM Friday, May 17, 2016 in Sullivan Co. Community Hospital.

He was born in Sullivan, IN November 25, 1945 the son of Charles Holbert Sr. and Inez Smallwood Holbert.

            Richard was retired from Wabash Coal Mine in Keensburg, IL, a member of the Shelburn Masonic Lodge #369 and a Vietnam Army Veteran.

            He was preceded in death by his parents, also four brothers William, Thomas, Dale and Gary Holbert

            Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Jo Anne Walls Holbert whom he married on June 12, 1971, two sons; Richard Holbert Jr. (Elizabeth Gdowik) of Sullivan, IN, Brent Holbert of Sullivan, IN, three daughters; Jo Lynn Pickard (Bill) of Sullivan, IN, Andrea Holbert of Sullivan, IN and Alicia Holbert of Sullivan,IN two brothers; Charles Holbert Jr. of Sullivan, IN and Don Holbert (Dana) of Shelburn, IN, three sisters; Elsie Cox of Graysville, IN, Inez Hiatt (Tom) of Sullivan, IN, Patricia Kenmuir of Sullivan, IN two grandchildren; Tailor and Ben Nasser and several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services will be at 2:00PM Friday, May 20, 2016 at Brust Funeral Home with Rev. Don Ransford officiating. Burial will follow in the Little Flock Cemetery with Military graveside rites by the Sullivan, Shelburn and Hymera Legion Posts and the Sullivan VFW Post. Visitation will be from 11:00AM until 2:00PM Friday.
