Sandra Lynn (Miller) Knotts

Sandra Lynn (Miller) Knotts, 77 Sullivan, entered the Gates of Heaven on April 30, 2017 at her residence with her family by her side.

Sandra was born on October 5, 1939 in Butte, Montana to E. Merle and Ruth (Duncan) Miller.

Sandra was a graduate of Robinson High School and lived in Flat Rock, Illinois up until she graduated. She then married Glen Knotts, on September 28, 1957. As they were raising a family with their three kids Sandy was a military wife. After leaving the service of 12 years they settled down in Sullivan, Indiana.

Sandy spent 40 years working at Sullivan Elementary School Cafeteria. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband to visit family and visiting various ballparks. Her favorite team was the Chicago Cubs.

Sandy enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow up and watching them play various sports. She became known as “GiGi” as her 22 great-grandchildren started coming along. Her favorite pastime then became spending time with them. She was greatly loved by them all and was known for her GiGi hugs!

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband’s parents; LaVere & Velma (Myers) Knotts.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, one son, Donald Lee Knotts of Big Rock, Tennessee, two daughters; Debra Lynn and her husband Mark Phegley of Sullivan, Indiana and Darla Lou Kennedy of Sullivan, Indiana, one sister, Wilma Jean (Ken) Henson of Decatur, Alabama, two brothers; Edward (Jan) Miller of Taft, Tennessee and Bill (Jan) Miller of Rockvale, Tennessee, ten grandchildren; Randy (Emily) Phegley, Jill (Jon) Arbo, Tyler (Jessica) Phegley, Jeremiah (Mykalia) Hall, David (Leslie) Phillips, Kassy (Kenneth) Wilson, Bruce Knotts, Leah Knotts, Derrick Knotts, Desiree (Keith) Earhart and 22 great-grandchildren; Cameron, Emma, Gabriel, Molly, Joseph, Blake, Trace, Elliana, Lucy Joy, Adalyn, Skylar, Cheyenne, Kenneth, Lucas, Kennedy, Ashley, Jason, Hunter, Adilynn, Brantley, Cole and Gunner. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation. A graveside service for family and friends will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Center Ridge Cemetery with Rev. David Cox officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to Brust Funeral Home.
