Virginia Rose (Bates) Wilkes

Virginia Rose Wilkes, 84, of Sullivan, Indiana was called home on November 15, 2015 after a long battle with dementia. She was born December 10, 1930 to Wes and Clara Burton Bates. Virginia worked as a custodian for the Southwest School Corporation for 37 years and retired in 2006, she also was a people greeter at Wal-Mart for 10 years. She loved to travel and spend time with her family.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Georgie Wayne Wilkes, son Dennis Loudermilk, two brothers; Bill Bates and Bob Bates and two sisters; Betty Bates Walden and Anna Bates Wagoner.

Survivors include her son Wes Wilkes and wife Robin, two grandchildren; Stacie and Jacob Wilkes, great-granddaughter Gracie Wilkes and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Merom Cemetery in Merom, Indiana. Arrangements were entrusted to Brust Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Sullivan County Humane Society.
