William Charles Snyder

William “Bill” C. Snyder, passed away at 10:15 PM Wednesday, December 16, 2015 on his 89th birthday at Miller’s Merry Manor, Sullivan, surrounded by family.

He was born December 16, 1926 to Gilbert “Gib” and Frieda Buescher Snyder in Sullivan. Bill served in the US Navy and graduated from Purdue as an electrical engineer. After getting married, he worked briefly in Sullivan, then in Columbus, Indiana before finally returning to Sullivan to work with his father at the Sullivan Hardware and Furniture Store. He was the owner, and before retiring, the longtime operator, along with his wife, of Sullivan Furniture Inc. Bill loved to eat and he loved to fish (especially from a canoe!).  He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Sullivan, Sullivan BPOE #911 and Sullivan Masonic Lodge.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife Betty Cauldwell Snyder in 1999 and his sister Rosemary Ray in 2012.

Survivors include three sons; Steve C. Snyder of Cameron, Wisconsin, Scott W. (and Becky) Snyder of Sullivan, Indiana and Cary “Tate” A. (and Kelly) Snyder of Sullivan, Indiana, four grandchildren; Shea (and Bobby) Rose, Mickala Snyder, Jeremy (and Stephanie) Snyder and Zachary Snyder, two great-grandchildren; Isabelle Rose and William Lewis Snyder. He is also survived by two nieces; Linda Smit and Kathy Ray and brother-in-law Les Ray.

Bill will be missed by many people. He loved people, family and friends, from all walks of life.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM, Saturday, December 19, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church in Sullivan, Indiana with Rev. Paul McGlasson officiating. Interment will follow in Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan, Indiana. Friends may call from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Community Kitchen Endowment Fund or the William Snyder Endowment Fund and mailed to Sullivan County Community Foundation 2901 Ohio Boulevard, Suite 153 Terre Haute, Indiana 47803.
