Wilma L. (McMahan) Spencer

Wilma L. Spencer, 86, of Carlisle, Indiana passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Sullivan, Indiana.

She was born on November 3, 1930 in Sullivan, Indiana the daughter of Walter and Maud (Farrand) McMahan. Wilma married Jesse Spencer on October 7, 1950 and retired from Mary Sherman Hospital.

Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jesse Spencer, special friend Denzel Walters, brothers; Melvin, Walter, Mervin and Maurice, sisters; Norma Graham, Lois Brown, Naomi Huff and Doris Cox and great-granddaughter, Layla Ann Christy.

Survivors include her son, Marley H. Spencer of Carlisle, four daughters; Carla (Gerald) Hiatt of Carlisle, Christina (Mark) Pirtle of Carlisle, Cathy (Kenny) Crynes of Dugger and Camilla Spencer of Jasonville, two brothers; Charles McMahan and Donald (Jean) McMahan both of Sullivan, one sister, Janice (Buck) Wright of Paxton, seven grandchildren; Keith Slawson, Brandie Pirtle, Dusty Pirtle, Richard “Nic” Christy, Alexandria Alumbaugh, Hunter Christy and John Noah Crynes, 21 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law; Ellen (Earl) Spires of Carlisle, Mary Spencer of Pendleton, Sue McMahan of Sullivan and Sally McMahan of Marshall, Illinois and brother-in-law, Morris Spencer of Sullivan. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews who were all very special to her.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana. Interment will follow in Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan, Indiana. Friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 and from 9:00 AM until the service on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the funeral home.
