Randall Earl Hobbs

Randall “Randy” Earl Hobbs, 77, of Carlisle, Indiana passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024, at The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care.

He was born on July 20, 1946, in Sullivan, Indiana the son of Cleveland Earl Hobbs and Edith Angeline Thrasher Hobbs. Randy graduated from Sullivan High School in 1964. He married Kathy Lynn Norris on June 6, 1969. Randy was a veteran of the US Army Reserves. He was a member of the Rose Chapel United Methodist Church in Carlisle and The Sullivan Moose Lodge. Randy was a farmer and truck driver until retiring in 2011 from Bestway Trucking in Vincennes, Indiana. His handle/nickname was Hobby and Hobby Horse. After retiring, Randy owned and operated the Hobbs Produce Stand at the Sullivan Farmers Market. Randy enjoyed being in the outdoors, mushroom hunting, tending to his 5-acre garden, wood working, playing Euchre and Texas Hold’em. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Randy loved many and was loved by many more. He never met a stranger. He was a very kindhearted and giving man who would help anyone, even give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.

Randy is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Donald “Don” Hobbs and William “Billy” Hobbs, two sisters, Earline Bolenbaugh and Dorothy Weddle and two brothers-in-law, Tom Bolenbaugh and Jim Weddle.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Kathy Lynn Hobbs, three daughters, Angela Dawn Gunn of Sullivan, Indiana, Anita Ann (Eric) Neiswinger of Clay City, Indiana and Alisha Lynn (Nick) Kirkling of Clay City, Indiana and six grandchildren, David Gunn, Corrina Gunn, Issac Gunn, Kirsten Reedy (Jacob Fagg), Karson Kirkling, and Kailyn Kirkling. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana with Terry Norris officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in New Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 4, 2024, and prior to the service on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Brust Funeral Home.
