Anna Bernice Hulen, 86, of Shelburn, Indiana, passed peacefully away on Friday, October 26, 2018, at her home in Shelburn, surrounded by her family in the hours before her passing.
She was born on February 1, 1932 in Bicknell, Indiana, the daughter of Homer Christy and Martha Chasteen Christy. She was a member of Farmers Chapel Community Church in Terre Haute. Bernice was also a member of the Linton Moose #1434 and the American Legion Auxiliary in Sullivan. She and her husband loved dancing, camping, boating and skiing, taking trips and making crafts and doing craft shows for many years.
Bernice is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 60 years, John Walters Hulen, son, Mitchell Hulen, infant daughter, Cynthia Jo Hulen, infant grand-daughter, Amy Jo Sheffler, brothers Kenneth, Paul, and Roy Christy, sister Dorothy Tryon, and brother-in-law Jerry Walters.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy (Keith) Sheffler of Shelburn, sister, Vera (Melvin) Walters of Jasonville, grandchildren Kevin (Tina) Sheffler of Terre Haute, and Jeff (Elizabeth) Sheffler of Seelyville, great-granddaughter, Natalie Sheffler, step great-grandchildren, Nasya (Michael) Noble and Larry Dietz, brother-in-law Jim (Maxine) Walters of Ocala, Florida, sisters-in-law, Rachael Christy-Daugherty of New Lebanon and Barb Walters of Hope, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Friday, November 2, 2018, at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana with Pastor Terry Whitlock officiating. Interment will follow in Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan. A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until service time on Friday.
