Daniel James Obituary

Daniel L. James, 78, of Carlisle, Indiana passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Breckenridge Nursing Home in Sullivan, Indiana.

He was born on February 13, 1941 in Garden City, Michigan the son of Orval James and Muriel Jones Enochs. Daniel was a coalminer and he retired from Peabody Coal. He was a member of Faith Community Church, Sullivan Elks and volunteer for the Carlisle Fire Department and Carlisle Ambulance Service.

Daniel is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Beverly Bishop and nephew, Jeff Bailey.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Judy Johanningsmeier James, two sons; Doug James (Susie Shepler) of Sullivan, Indiana and David James (Jana) of Sullivan, Indiana, four grandchildren; Max James (Arial), Sepehara James (Jamie), Haylie Dugan (Justin) and Landrey James, three great-grandchildren; Deavany Brooks, Clinton Hamilton and Jeb Hamilton, niece & nephew, Jennie and Mike Bailey and mother-in-law, Barbara Johanningsmeier of Sullivan, Indiana.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana with Rev. Shawn Farris officiating. Interment will follow in IOOF Cemetery in Carlisle, Indiana. Visitation will be 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Brust Funeral Home.
