Donna Lu (Pursell) Hilgediek

On Sunday, May 12, 2019 the Lord called home Donna Lu (Pursell) Hilgediek, age 84 of Sullivan, IN.  Donna was born to Lucille (Metz) Pursell and Donald Pursell, in Fillmore, Indiana on August 14, 1934. She died peacefully at home.  Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Dean Allen Pursell, her sister, Barbara Mae Redifer, and her granddaughter, Stacy Lucille Ayers.  

While working for American State Insurance she met the love of her life and future husband of 65 years, Calvin Hilgediek.  She also worked as office manager for Hilgediek Plumbing and Heating for 16 years.

A loving wife and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Donna enjoyed spending time with family most.  She enjoyed sports, being an avid IU and Cubs fan. Donna taught Sunday school at First Christian Church for over 20 years where she was a long-time member.

Donna is survived by her husband, Calvin, her daughter Debra (Bruce) Ayers of Sullivan, Indiana, and sons Dan (Gaye) Hilgediek of Lafayette, Indiana and Tom (Tina) Hilgediek of
Jasper, Indiana, brother, Larry (Janet) Pursell of Crawfordsville, Indiana, grandchildren; Justin (financee Melissa Corrigan) Ayers, Nicholas (Antonia) Hilgediek, Sam Hilgediek, and Hannah (finance Sam Loga) and greatgrandchildren Makiya and Adelina Ayers.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 16, 2019 at First Christian Church in Sullivan, Indiana with Rev. David Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan, Indiana. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 and 9:00 AM until the service on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at First Christian Church in Sullivan, Indiana.
