John Bosstick Obituary

John Basil Bosstick, 91, Farmersburg, passed away on March 6, 2019.

He was born on January 11, 1928, the son of John Ancil “Brownie” and Virginia Bosstick.

He was a farmer his entire life. He strongly believed in being a steward of the land. He constantly amazed his family and friends with his non-stop “energy”, regardless of his illness and age! His favorite toys were his backhoe and chainsaw. John Basil had worked as a security guard at Sony DADC for several years. He also enjoyed working for Lewis Bakeries.

Basil and his wife, Evelyn, enjoyed dancing with the Swinging Mates Square Dance Club. Basil was also a private pilot. He even had a landing strip on his farm.

Basil took his family on many fun vacations throughout the continental United States. He and Evelyn also traveled to Africa, Brazil, Egypt, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Hawaii and Alaska.

Basil was preceded in death by his parents; his devoted wife of 68 years, Evelyn; one son, Johnny Chris Bosstick; and one sister, Wanda Rose Bosstick.

Survivors include one son, Ronald Bosstick of Farmersburg; two daughters, Linda Sue (and Tom) McKinley of Urbana, Illinois and LeAnn (and Terry) Wenzel of Shelbyville, Tennessee; 13 grandsons, Ronald Jr., John, Shane (and Melissa), Joey, Jason (and Amanda), and Harold Bosstick, Koty, Justin, and Kyle Hoesman, Jeremy (and Jessica), Luke, and Clayton Turnbaugh, and Spencer (and Tara Holland) Ferenczy; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, with funeral services at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 9, 2019 with Pastor David Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery in Farmersburg.
