John L. Pirtle

John L. Pirtle, 91, of Sullivan, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at his residence.

He was born on December 16, 1927 in Sullivan, Indiana the son of Ora Melvin Pirtle and Imogene Fleming Pirtle. John retired from Pfizer in 1992 after working there for 32 years. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

John is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Verlene Ridge Pirtle.

Survivors include his daughter, Paula Drummond (Jim) of Columbus, Indiana, five sons; Kentz Pirtle (Dee-Dee) of New Lebanon, Indiana, Brian Pirtle (Kathy) of Graysville, Indiana, Gary Pirtle (Amy) of New Lebanon, Indiana, John Dean Pirtle (Jenni) of Bluffton, South Carolina and Robin Borgert of Aurich, Germany, two brothers; Jack Pirtle (Patty-deceased) of Farmersburg, Indiana and Richard Pirtle (Stevie) of New Lebanon, sister, Patty DelFabro (Lou) of Bradenton, Florida, fourteen grandchildren; Jeremy Shake (Bobbie), Jason Shake (Carrie), Curtis Drummond (Holly), Nathan Pirtle, McKenzie Pirtle, Jake Pirtle (Meeghan), John Riley Pirtle, Reagan Pirtle, Spencer Pirtle, Benjamin Pirtle, Gabriel Pirtle, Seth Pirtle, John Winston Pirtle and Victor Ian Pirtle, eleven great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild and special friend Phyllis Sparks. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Monday, August 12, 2019 at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in New Lebanon, Indiana with a Military graveside service by the Sullivan, Shelburn and Hymera Legion Posts and Sullivan county VFW Post. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Sunday, August 11, 2019 and from 9:00 AM until the service on Monday at Brust Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to American Diabetes Association, Heartland Hospice or the Sullivan High School Athletics Department, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
