Rachel Catherine Faught

Rachel Catherine Faught, 95, of Sullivan, Indiana passed away at 10:51 p.m. Tuesday, August 14 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Sullivan.

Rachel was born in Sullivan, Indiana on November 12, 1922 to Amos Faught and Eva Grace Sonner Faught. Survivors include sister-in-law, Joann Faught, Sullivan; two nieces, Michelle of Spring, Texas and Margot of New York City; nephew, John Scott, Sullivan; special cousin, Margie Cox, and special nieces, Cindy Stierwalt and Gina Scott; and other relatives scattered across the country.  She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Abbie Faught; brother, Sonner Faught; and special niece, Sarah Scott Brummett.

After graduating from Sullivan High School in 1941, Rachel worked at the Lindley-

Gallagher Law firm, WPA Sewing Project, PMC Office, Sullivan County Auditor’s Office, Mary Sherman Hospital, and retired from the Sullivan State Bank after 33 years. 

Rachel was an 80-year member of the Sullivan First Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and Sunday School Secretary for many years. She was also an active member of the American Baptist Women, both in Sullivan and the Curry’s Prairie Association. Rachel was also involved in the Sullivan Garden Club, Business and Professional Women’s Club and served as local president and district director, Women in Banking, Easter Seal Society, and was active in the former Sullivan Senior Center, serving as a board member.

Rachel loved her family, her church, her friends as well as hobbies of sewing, tailoring, knitting and traveling. She especially loved playing bingo -- at the Senior Center, with her family at Thanksgiving celebrations, at Sunrise Towers with her friends there, and most recently with the residents at Miller’s Merry Manor.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 18. 2018 at Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan, Indiana with Pastor Bret Cox officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan.
