Robert "Bob" Canup Obituary

Robert “Bob” Harold Canup, 87, of Sullivan, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Sullivan County Community Hospital.

He was born on May 17, 1931 in O’Fallon, Illinois the son of Robert Ray and Mary Louise (Woodside) Canup. Bob graduated from high school and married Dolores Deane Cobb on March 10, 1952 in Alexandria, Virginia. He was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Korean War. Bob worked for C&EI Railroad for several years, computer programmer at Columbia Records, rural mail carrier and later in life for Brust Funeral Home. Bob was a member and ordained Deacon of the Sullivan First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and Sullivan American Legion Post #139.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, son, Stephen Alan Canup and his wife of 59 years, Dolores Deane Cobb Canup.

Survivors include son, Robert L. (Linda) Canup of Merom, Indiana, daughter Karen Nacrelli (Paul) of Sullivan, Indiana, seven grandchildren; Amber Bonham, Jessica Lisman, Jana Tracy, Jason Canup, Josh Canup, Craig Ferguson and Cara Mercado and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Friday, August 31, 2018 at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana with Pastor Bret Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan, Indiana with a Military graveside service by the Sullivan, Shelburn and Hymera Legion Posts and Sullivan county VFW Post. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Brust Funeral Home.
