Roy Howard Sewell, 93, of Sullivan, Indiana passed away on Monday, February 4, 2019 at Breckenridge Health and Rehab.
He was born on February 8, 1925 in Cumberland County, Kentucky the son of George Sewell and Ada Smith Sewell. Roy was an US Army veteran who served in WWII. He was a retired carpenter and minister in Indiana for over 50 years. Roy was a member of the Church of Nazarene in Sullivan, Indiana.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents, wife Zelma Johnson Sewell and siblings; Irene Hoots, Johnny, Paul, Willie, Fred, Millard and Robert Sewell.
Survivors include two daughters; Phyllis (Dale) Kennedy of Sullivan, Indiana and Rebecca (Grant) Doty of Leesburg, Florida, three brothers; Hall Sewell of Clearwater, Florida, Bud (Betty) Sewell of Columbia, Kentucky and Bobby (Mary Catherine) Sewell of Louisville, Kentucky, sister, Lucy Mae Hatcher of Louisville, Kentucky, three grandchildren; Scott (Bridget) Kennedy, Meribeth (Mike) Yeary and Rob (Ally) Doty, great-grandchildren; Kaitlyn, Taryn, Sydney, Conner and Olivia and two step-great grandchildren; Alli and Briana.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Church of Nazarene in Sullivan, Indiana with Pastor Juan Laredo and Pastor Todd Gotshall officiating. Interment will follow in Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan, Indiana with a Military graveside service by the Sullivan, Shelburn and Hymera Legion Posts and Sullivan county VFW Post. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Sullivan Church of Nazarene. Arrangements were entrusted to Brust Funeral Home.
