Virginia M. (Meek) Shelton

Virginia M. Shelton, 86, of Carlisle, Indiana formerly of Linton, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Sullivan, Indiana.

She was born on November 1, 1932 in Beecher, Illinois the daughter of Pliney Blane Meek and Rosa Gertrude Mulvaney Meek. Virginia was a veteran of the US Army and an LPN. She was a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Hymera, Indiana.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, husband Mason Shelton, brothers; Benjamin Mitchell, Hobert Mitchell, Aubrey Mitchell, Horace Mitchell and Bill Meek and sisters; Bertha Mitchell, Mable Gentry, Alice Cox and Erma Kardokus.

Survivors include five sons; Herbert Huffman of Carlisle, Indiana, Howard Huffman (Rebecca) of Bowling Green, Indiana, Herman Huffman (Alicia) of North Carolina, Mark Huffman (Susan) of Salem, Missouri, and Bruce Shelton (Rebecca) of Morgantown, West Virginia, one daughter, Barbara Nero (Lawrence) of Noblesville, Indiana, one sister, Anna Jean Snapp of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, twelve grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Celebration of Life will be from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Southern Baptist Church in Hymera, Indiana with Military Rites. Interment will be held at a later date in Engles Cemetery in Carlisle, Indiana. Arrangements were entrusted to Brust Funeral Home.
