Brenda Cooksey

Brenda Cooksey, 72, of Sullivan, Indiana passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at her residence.

She was born on January 30, 1951, in Brazil, Indiana the daughter of Arthur L. Smith and Mary F. Miller Smith. Brenda graduated from high school and worked at Lear in Brazil for several years. She was a loving mother and grandmother. 

Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, loving husband of 47 years Virgil Cooksey Sr., two sons; Virgil Cooksey Jr. and infant Kevin Wayne Cooksey, two sisters; Connie Smith and Alice Friddle and brother, Bill Smith.

Survivors include daughter, Gloria Smith (Chris Welch), two grandchildren; Chelsi Smith (Jared Cooksey) and Derek Smith (Cora), sisters; Bonnie Richardson of Sullivan, Indiana, Beverly Batchelor (Earl), Vicki Miller and Debbie Myers (Mark) all of Brazil, Indiana and two brothers; Mike Smith of Brazil, Indiana and Danny Miller of Terre Haute, Indiana. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Brust Funeral Home.
