Carl Ray Shepherd

Carl Ray Shepherd, 80, of Shelburn, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at his residence.

He was born on June 30, 1940 in Hyden, Kentucky the son of Jesse Ray Shepherd and Chesney Feltner Shepherd. Carl graduated from high school where he played basketball and was a life-long mechanic. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Korean War. Carl was a member of the Shelburn American Legion. He enjoyed watching Nascar, professional sports and college sports. Carl was a long-time member of his church in Georgia and loved to read his bible. He never meet a stranger.     

Carl is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Virginia Shepherd and step-son, Lee.

Survivors include his son, Bill Shepherd of Georgia, two daughters; Karla Remeika of Indianapolis, Indiana and Krissy Andrews of Shelbyville, Indiana, step-daughter, Virginia Brauer of Terre Haute, Indiana, brother, Phillip G. Shepherd of Griffin, Georgia, two sisters; Diana Norman of Bargersville, Indiana and Phyllis “Kay” Cholewinski of Farmersburg, Indiana. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Brust Funeral Home.
