Carol Hendrix Obituary

Carol Ann (Fellows) Hendrix, born August 7th of 1937 died on March 31, 2019. Carol was born in Carrol County, Indiana to Donald and Gladys Fellows and adored her younger brother, Larry (Alice.) Carol attended Cutler High School. It was there that she met and, as family lore has it, famously pursued the love of her life for over 60 years, Robert (Bob) Hendrix who preceded her in death on April 8, 2015. Carol and Bob were inseparable, and together, the two traveled the world and had many adventures, the greatest of which are their three children Pamela (Rick) Miller, Sandy (Bob Stolz) Dodd, and Brad (Terri) Hendrix. Together, Bob and Carol lived a life made brighter by their close friends and extended family members, especially Carol’s brothers- and sisters-in-law.

Much of Carol’s life was devoted to making beautiful things. She was a founding member of the Sewing Connection in Terre Haute, taught classes at Stretch and Sew, and, along with her husband, owned and operated a sewing machine repair business. Many of her creations ended up on her favorite models- her grandchildren, Dr. Amanda (Jeremy) Miller, Josh Miller, John Hendrix, and Haley Hendrix. Bob and Carol also served their community faithfully through their 40+ year membership in the Sullivan Lion’s Club.

The family wishes to personally thank Carol’s neighbors, especially Theresa, Peggy, and Judee, for their friendship, love, and kindness. May we all be so lucky to have a community who looks after us in our golden years.

In lieu of flowers, her family kindly asks that you please donate to her greatest loves- her family and her craft. Two excellent options include Canine Companions for Independence at PO Box 446, Santa Rosa, CA, 95402 or 1-866-CCI-DOGS (1-866-224-3647) and Kiva.org, where you can make a micro-loan to women around the world who wish to start a sewing business from their own homes.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Sullivan, IN, at a later date to be announced.
