David Arthur Holmes, 81, of Sullivan, Indiana passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021 at his residence.

He was born in Sullivan County, Indiana on June 17, 1939 the son of Robert Arthur Holmes and Tressie (Mason) Holmes.

David was a Master Sargent in the US Army and served for 21 years. He was the owner of Dave’s Sharpening and Lock Shop and also worked at Daugherty Bros. David was a member of the Sullivan First Christian Church, Sullivan VFW Post # 2459, the Sullivan Masonic Lodge Post #263, 1600 Communications Associations and 25th Infantry Division Associations.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Nancy Robinson Holmes whom he married on July 7, 1959, son, David Arthur Holmes Jr. (Missy) of Shelburn, Indiana, two daughters; Tammy Ann Holmes and Tressie Glenn Holmes both of Sullivan, Indiana, nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 PM, Friday, May 28, 2021 at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana with Rev. David Cox officiating and Pastor Erich Blevins with Military funeral rites by the Sullivan County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the LaMision in care of First Christian Church.
