Dorothy Bates Unger, 92, of Sullivan, Indiana passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at The Waters of Sullivan.
She was born on April 20, 1931 in Sullivan County, Indiana the daughter of Thomas H. Unger and Roxie Bates Unger. Dorothy graduated from high school and earned her bachelor’s degree in education. Dorothy was a member of the Sullivan First Christian Church. She was a missionary in Portugal for 20 years before returning to Sullivan County and worked for the Red Cross for several years.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Larry Unger and William Unger and one sister, Rowena Flatt.
Survivors include her brother, Robert Unger (Mary) of Kansas City, Missouri and two sisters; Betty Skinner (Dean) of Bardstown, Kentucky and Nancy Goodman of Sullivan, Indiana. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Brust Funeral Home.
