Eldon L. Dunford, 88, of Shelburn, Indiana passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana with his loving family by his side.

He was born on October 15, 1935, in Dugger, Indiana the son of Glenn Dunford and Ernestine Robertson Dunford. Eldon graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1953 and served from 1957-1960 in the US Army and Honor Guard in Washington DC. He married Betty Jones on December 16, 1962, in Shelburn, Indiana. He graduated from Indiana Barber College and owned his own barber shop in Linton, Indiana leaving for employment with Peabody Coal in 1976 until he retired in 1992. After retirement Eldon was a certified instructor for MSHA for 35 years. Eldon loved farming and taking care of cattle. He was a lifelong member and trustee of the Shiloh Church of Christ and a trustee for Woodward Cemetery for many years.

Eldon is preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry Dunford and sister Janice Campbell.

Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Betty Dunford, son Daren (Missy) Dunford of Shelburn, Indiana, three grandchildren; Megan (Jason) Lotz, Lauren (Michael) Woodsmall and Jared Dunford and four great-grandchildren; Harper, Remy, Gia and Rhett.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Shiloh Church of Christ at 3529 State Rd 54 Sullivan, Indiana 47882. Celebration of life will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Shiloh Church of Christ with Bro Jack Clark and Bro JB Smith officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Woodward Cemetery in Dugger, Indiana. Arrangements were entrusted to Brust Funeral Home.
