Elmer Dewey City

Elmer Dewey City, 83, of Sullivan, Indiana passed away on Monday, September 19, 2022 at his residence.

He was born on June 7, 1939 in Worthington, Indiana the son of Damon Free City and Thelma Lucile Haldeman City. Elmer graduated from Worthington High School in 1957 and retired from the Indiana Department of Correction. He was a veteran of the US Army National Guard and a member of The Church of New Beginnings in Sullivan.

Elmer is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary City, daughter, Deni Marie City-Pigg, sister, Diana Sue (Carl) Baugh, sister-in-law, Linda City and brother-in-law, Ron Lewis.

Survivors include his three daughters; Erica D. Young of Brownsburg, Indiana, Kelly Diane (Joe) Hawkins of Vincennes, Indiana and Jenny Leigh (Dan) Nagy of Worthington, Indiana, brother, Jeffrey City of Dacula, Georgia, sister, Zenobia Lewis of Kingsville, Texas and Mary D. (Merle “Tuff”) Turpin of Worthington, Indiana, eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 PM, Friday, September 23, 2022 at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana with Jim Stricklin officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, September 23, 2022 at Brust Funeral Home. Internment will take place at a later date in Center Ridge Cemetery with a Military service by the Sullivan County Honor Guard.
