Fred M. Patton

Fred M. Patton, 86, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Harrison’s Crossing Health Campus.

He was born on December 29, 1935 in Sullivan County, Indiana the son of William A. Patton and Nelle Hummel Patton. Fred retired from the Indiana State Police Force after 23 years of service. He was a member of the Oregon Baptist Church for the last fifty years.

Fred was a proud and passionate state trooper, dedicated to serve the Wabash Valley area for over 30 years and was well known throughout the area.  He was always happy to assist on the roadway or in service, particularly to families in need.  Prior to becoming a trooper, Fred worked as a lineman for Public Service Indiana, now Duke Energy.  After his mandatory age related retirement from the state police force, Fred stayed active with his lifelong passion for cars and was always that trusted source who could be depended upon to find reliable, relatively inexpensive used cars and trucks for purchase and/or repairs for his friends and customers alike.  In his personal life, Fred enjoyed his 1969 Corvette which he tinkered with and enjoyed over the last four decades and being with his family.   Fred was an excellent role model for his children and grandchildren.

 Fred is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jaretta Reynolds Patton, three brothers; Wendell Patton, William Patton and Wayne Patton, four sisters; Phyllis Patton, Barbara Patton, June Hoesman and Marjorie Miller and grandson, Justin Patton.

Survivors include two sons; Fred R. Patton (Lynn) of Greenwood, Indiana and Shane Patton (Heather) of Oceanside, California, daughter, Pamela Woodard (Bill) of Terre Haute, Indiana, sister, Ruth Figg (Bennie) of Sullivan, Indiana, grandchildren; Alexis Patton, Liana Woodard and Kiernan Patton-Yarbrough and great-grandchildren; Kohen Patton, Bentley Patton, Maverick Patton and Lucas Patton.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Monday, January 17, 2022 at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana with Pastor Brad Geary officiating. Interment will follow in Dugger Cemetery in Dugger, Indiana. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Monday, January 17, 2022 at Brust Funeral Home.
