Freddie Gene Wamsley

            Freddie Gene Wamsley, 74 of Sullivan, IN passed away at his residence Thursday, March 24, 2022.

            He was born in Sullivan, IN February 12, 1948, the son of Albert Wamsley and Garnett (Eslinger) Wamsley.

            Fred graduated from Sullivan High School in 1966, was an Army Veteran in the Vietnam War, a member of the Sullivan American Legion Post #139 and Sullivan VFW post #2459. He was the president and founder of the men’s slow pitch softball team. His favorite past times were fishing, hunting, camping, watching the grandkids play sports, music, but not rap, also liked TV and golfing.

            He worked at American Latex for 18 years as a chemical compounder, FM satellite, Wabash Valley Correctional Facility, Greene County General Hospital Security and he was also the Co-Owner and Manager of the Kat -A-Korner Diner in Sullivan, IN for 18 years.

            Survivors include his wife of 40 years Susan Hoke Wamsley whom he married on December 31, 1981, four children, ., Angela Jean Green (Pat) of Jasonville, IN, Kevin Shane Wamsley of Sullivan, IN., Donald Christopher Willis of St. Petersburg, FL and Aimee Jo Huddleston (Scott) of Jasonville, IN, two brothers, Ronnie Wamsley (Myra) Indianapolis, IN, Mike Wamsley of Fredericksburg, VA, a sister, Susan Rahn (Ron) of Savannah, GA, five grandchildren, Patrick Green (Samantha), Michael Huddleston, Parker Green (Sydney), Jalyn Wamsley and Brittany Huddleston, one great-grandchild, Kenzleigh Green.

            Fred was preceded in death by his parents also two brothers, Jerry Wamsley and Jeffrey Wamsley.

            Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Brust Funeral Home with Rev. David Cox officiating. Burial in the Center Ridge Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites by the Sullivan Co Honor Guard. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and from 9:00 AM until services Tuesday.
