Gerald J. Stockberger

Gerald J. Stockberger, 81, of Sullivan, Indiana passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Oak Village Nursing Home in Oaktown, Indiana.

He was born on November 3, 1939 in Mishawaka, Indiana the son of Joseph and Ova (Cullers) Stockberger. Gerald was a veteran of the US Army. He graduated college with a bachelor’s degree. Gerald owned and operated, Stockberger Tax Service in Sullivan, Indiana for several years. He was a member of the Sullivan Elks 911, Ducks Unlimited and St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Carrie Wagoner Stockberger, son, Maury Stockberger, brother, Richard Stockberger and sister, Susie Sullivan.

Survivors include two daughters; Maria Smith (Thad) of Sullivan, Indiana and Meagan McQueen (Chris) of Evansville, Indiana, sister, Virginia Price of Middleberry, Indiana, sister-in-law, Connie Stockberger of Terre Haute, Indiana, grandchildren; Rhett Smith (Haylee), Rhagen O’Neill (Joseph), Makala Shew (Lucas) and Everly McQueen and two great-grandchildren; Ransom Smith and Alaka Shew. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A private memorial will be held at a later date with burial at Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan, Indiana. Arrangements were entrusted to Brust Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church 105 E Jackson St, Sullivan, IN 47882.
