Herman Ernest Grindle

Herman Ernest Grindle, 83, of Sullivan, Indiana passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Daviess Community Hospital in Washington, Indiana.

He was born on March 5, 1940, in Terre Haute, Indiana the son of Marlow Grindle and Ruth Olive Grindle. Herman graduated from high school, attended college and worked at Anaconda/Alcan for several years. Herman was a US marine veteran. He was a past Sullivan County American Legion Post #139 Commander, member of the Sullivan County American Legion Post #139, member of the Sullivan County Honor Guard and American Legion Board member.

Herman is preceded in death by his parents, second wife, Jeanette Dency Grindle, third wife, Karen Lucas Grindle, son, Herman John Grindle, brother, Dallas Grindle and sister, Olive Hollingsworth.

Survivors include his daughter, Agnes Norton and her husband, James Norton of Macomb, Illinois, stepson, Brad Lucas (Jessica) of Terre Haute, Indiana, two grandchildren; Stephen A. Norton and Phillip M. Norton and three step-grandchildren, brother-in-law, H. L. Hollingsworth of Marshall, Illinois and companion, Rosemary Miller.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana with Leland Lucas officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute, Indiana with a Military graveside service by the Sullivan County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00PM on Monday, October 16, 2023, and prior to the service on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Brust Funeral Home.
