Janet Raye Garner, 77, passed away March 13, 2024, at her home of 55 years after a brief battle with cancer.

Janet was born February 6, 1947, in Sullivan, Indiana to Freda and Herman Mason. Janet graduated from Carlisle High School in 1965. She married Dan Garner October 11, 1969. They were married for 35 years until his passing in 2005.  Together they owned a produce farm, Garner and Son Produce. The farm was always a family affair involving both of their children, Scott and Heather. Along with running the business side of the farm, Janet was the Secretary/ Treasurer at Carlisle Elementary and Jr. High for 28 years retiring in 2012. Janet was a member of the Carlisle First United Methodist Church for 51 years. She was treasurer of United Methodist Women and was a member of the Friendship Class. Janet served as President of the Carlisle Alumni Association, was a member of 100 Women Who Care and treasurer of Carlisle Brown Baggers.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dan Garner, sister, Patricia Arnett and grandson, Daniel Ashby.

Janet is survived by her children, Scott Garner and Heather Ashby (Mark), grandchildren: Bailee and Preslee Garner and Mason and Ethan Ashby. Janet also had many dear lifelong friends whom she cherished their friendship.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Carlisle First United Methodist Church in Carlisle, Indiana with Pastor Paul Myers officiating. Interment will follow in IOOF Cemetery in Carlisle, Indiana. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Carlisle First United Methodist Church. Arrangements were entrusted to Brust Funeral Home.
