John Golish

John Golish, 88, of Sullivan, Indiana passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at his residence.

He was born on May 9, 1934, in Sullivan County, Indiana the son of John and Tressie Bunch Golish. John graduated from Sullivan High School, then went on as Co-Owner of Maxwell-Bevis Shoe Store. He later worked at Hoosier Energy overseeing the Tool Crib. John married his lifelong partner Ruth Marie Anderson on December 27, 1953. He was a lifetime member of the Sullivan Elks Post #911 and past president of Scarc. Ruth and John both attended the Sullivan First United Methodist Church, and both were 50-year members. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and taxidermy.

John is preceded in death by his parents, faithful loving wife of 67 years, Ruth Marie Golish, two sisters: Lois Golish Byrd and Lana Golish Martindale and brother-in-law, Dale Phillips.

Survivors include his daughter, Joyce Golish Cox and Greg Cox of Graysville, Indiana, two sons: John and Robin Clark Golish of Hymera, Indiana and Jay and Katie Golish of Paxton, Indiana, sister, Betty Phillips of Sullivan, Indiana, brother-in-law, Steve Martindale of Sullivan, Indiana, 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Brust Funeral Home. An Elks memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 with the funeral services following at 2:00 PM at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana with Rev. David Cox and Steve Blaydes, Clergy for Gentiva Hospice, officiating. Interment will follow in Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan, Indiana.
