John Metcalf

John E. Metcalf, 96, of Sullivan, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at his residence.

He was born on August 24, 1923 in Shelbyville, Kentucky the son of Harold Metcalf and Pearl Newsome Metcalf. John was a US Army Veteran who served in WWII. He married Ruth Wesner on October 5, 1945. John owned and operated Metcalf Body Shop in Sullivan, Indiana with his wife Ruth for several years. He was a member of the State Street Church of Christ and the Sullivan American Legion.

John is preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Kristin McKain and daughter-in-law, Ramona Metcalf.

Survivors include his loving wife of 74 years, Ruth Metcalf, two sons: Robert Metcalf (Bonnie) of Sullivan, Indiana and Mike Metcalf (Verna) of Sullivan, Indiana, two daughters; Rita McKain (Brad) of Terre Haute, Indiana and Terri Gadberry (Jim) of Sullivan, Indiana, eleven grandchildren; Julie Wagers (Todd), Jennifer Rupprecht (Travis), Katie Ketterer (Brian), Hollie Metcalf, Kaylan DuPre (Dr. Matt), Sarah Litz (Brandon), J.R. McKain (Elizabeth), Jaime Wilson (J.D.), Kacie Brooks (Tim), Taylor Woodard (Matt) and Delaney Hennecke (Logan) and sixteen great-grandchildren,.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Friday, March 6, 2020 at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana with Bro. Allan Griggs and Bro. Graham Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Center Ridge Cemetery is Sullivan, Indiana. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Friday, March 6, 2020 at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana.
