John C. Vaughn, 55, of Hymera, Indiana passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024, at his residence with his family by his side.
He was born on October 13, 1968, in Terre Haute, Indiana the son of James Richard Vaughn Sr. and Mattie M. Dayton Vaughn. John was an US Army Veteran and a jack of all trades. He worked for the town of Dugger as a supervisor at the water treatment plant. He attended Berea Christian Church in Brazil, Indiana.
John is preceded in death by his father, James Richard Vaughn Sr and brother, James Vaughn Jr.
Survivors include his mother, Mattie Vaughn of Hymera, Indiana, loving wife, Debra “Debbie” Bovenschen Vaughn, son, John C. Vaughn Jr. (Tiera) of Freedom, Indiana, daughter, Sierra Stricklin (Zachary) of Terre Haute, Indiana, brother, Mark Vaughn (Edwina) of Sullivan, Indiana, sister, Teresa Head (Roy) of Dugger, Indiana, grandchild, August Vaughn and step-son, Austin Shorter of Hymera, Indiana. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. John loved his family and life fiercely.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, July 8, 2024, at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana with Pastor Kris Howell officiating. Interment will follow in K of P Cemetery in Hymera, Indiana with a Military graveside service by the Sullivan County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM on Monday, July 8, 2024.
