Jose Aroldo Valdez Jr. “Joey”, died unexpectedly of a heart complication, on July 9, 2022, at the age of 42 at his home in Sullivan, Indiana.

He was born on March 22, 1980 in Terre Haute, Indiana the son of Jose A. Valdez and Lorena Hollifield.

Jose was survived by his parents: Jose A. Valdez Sr. of Mexico and Lorena Hollifield Martin (Will Benson) of Sullivan, Indiana, his wife, Ashley Overturf Valdez of Herrin, Illinois, his children: Michael Valdez and Jace Valdez both of Herrin, Illinois, siblings: Jamie Valdez (fiancé David James) of Sullivan, Indiana, Jaron Wilkes (Kelsy Jolley) of Vincennes, Indiana, Jenni Wilkes (Bethany) of New York, New York, Isaac Valdez of Texas, Michelle Valdez of Texas, Elissa Ryser (Jonathon) of Princeton, Indiana, George Heath Wilkes (Carey) of Rockford, Illinois, Jared Wilkes (Sarah) of Shelburn, Indiana, nephews: Zane McKee and Gabriel Brown, nieces: Leila Brown, Kiley Brown, MiKayla Brown and Amelia Wilkes, aunt, Leticia Maxey. He is also survived by several other aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his step-father, Brian Lee Wilkes.

He is loved and will be missed by many other family members and friends.

Jose loved his family, especially his boys, Michael and Jace. He loved to go camping, was a hard worker, had some struggles in life but was on the right track to accomplishing his goals to overcome those struggles. He will be sadly missed by all who have known him.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana with Rev. Raji Hollifield officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Wilfred, Indiana. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana.
