Larry Paul Akers, 78, of Shelburn, Indiana passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
He was born on October 26, 1943 in Hammond, Indiana the son of Harry Paul Akers and Erva Romine Akers. Larry retired from General Housewares after working there for 34 years and was a member of the Shelburn First Baptist Church. He married Vanna Povlin on June 30, 1990. He was also an avid Colts , Pacers, and Hoosiers fan.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Colin Madsen.
Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Vanna Akers, seven children: Dannette Hogan (Brett) of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Darren Akers (Tara) of Bradenton, Florida, Derick Akers (Michelle) of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Freddie Brickey of Sullivan, Indiana, Myra Brickey (Mark) of Shelburn, Indiana, Tracey Hood (Travis) of Shelburn, Indiana and Amy Madsen (Kurt) of Terre Haute, Indiana, fourteen grandchildren: Dylan, Jazmyne, Alyshia (Trevor), Devin, Declan, Danica, Taylor (Jackson), Levi, Danielle, Bridget, Madison, Cale, Mayley and Matthias, three great-grandchildren: Isabelle, Korbyn and Ava and one on the way and one sister, Linda Hochstetler (Ed) of Fortville, Indiana.
A celebration of Life will be held at Shelburn Baptist Church at a later date with Pastor Ben Wetherington officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to Brust Funeral Home.
