Lateef Gonzales Balogun

Lateef Gonzales Balogun, 48, of Sullivan, Indiana unexpectedly passed away on Monday, October 12th  returning to the promise land. 

Lateef was born in Lagos, Nigeria to Taofeek Balogun (father) and Iyabo Balogun (mother), which preceded him in death. 

Lateef's lifetime achievements include a bachelors degree in electrical engineering. He was a decorated Sergeant in the Nigerian Defense Academy, Army Branch, specializing in special operation unit and anti terrorism before arriving to the United States. As a dual citizen, some of Lateef's proudest achievements was becoming an American Citizen and sharing his love for his Yoruba culture. Lateef fulfilled his dreams while building a career in airport services, security and proudly transitioned into the department of corrections, law enforcement and the department of defense. 

To meet him, Lateef was a lion among men, a king and had a presence of a warrior. He would teach others God is love in any name. He walked with faith and known no prejudice with hopes to make this world a better place. Lateef's most priceless possessions includes his family, his friends, his home which was his refuge and rooting on the Liverpool Soccer Club.

Lateef leaves behind his wife, Amber Dean Balogun. He is survived by 2 brothers, 6 sisters, several nieces and nephews, which he loved dearly and an extensive family across multiple countries who will continue to honor the traditions he shared.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life in 2021 to honor their King.
