Lenora Maude Smith,  “a wife of noble character," went to be with the Lord Monday, June 15, 2026 from her home.

            She was born in Sharon Grove, Kentucky July 2, 1936, the daughter of James Wilmer Borders and Roxie Lee (Estes) Borders.

            She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Celia Kenner and Melva LeDoux.

            Maude was a member of the Shiloh Church of Christ in Dugger, IN, and retired from Millers Merry Manor in housekeeping after 20 years.

            Survivors include her husband of 70 years James Buford Smith whom she married on June 1, 1956, three daughters: Lynn Renette Boone (Mike) of Dugger, IN, Celeste Turpen (Danny) of Brazil, IN and Kayla Hale (Allen) of Dugger, IN;  a son, James Lee Smith ( Dixie) of Wilmington, N. Carolina, a sister, Peggy Ogden of Huntsville, AL; 7 grandchildren: Nicholas (Lauren) Boone, Travis (Emily) Turpen, Brooke (Willie) Wimmer, Cara (Ryan) Gambill, Shelby (Ben) Buterbaugh, Cali (Kaleb) Rockwell, Sara (Jake) Dalton; 18 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

         Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, IN with  Phil Nuernberger officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 23, 2026 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Dugger Cemetery.

In lieu of  flowers, gifts may be made to Woodland Bible Camp or Words of Life Radio Ministry. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
