Leonard "Lenny" George Barish Jr.

Leonard “Lenny” George Barish Jr., 77, of Sullivan, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at his residence.

He was born on January 9, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York the son of Leonard George Barish and Grace Cantwell Barish. Lenny was a veteran of the US Navy and a lifelong laborer who worked at the Hoosier Energy for several years before retiring. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sullivan American Legion Post 139, Sullivan Elks 911 and a past member of the Sullivan Lyons Club. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan.

Lenny is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Florence Veronica Grier, one grandson, Benton and two brothers; Richard and Dennis Barish.

Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Sandra Davison Barish, three sons; Leonard Barish III of Sullivan, Indiana, Phillip Barish of Sullivan, Indiana, James Barish of Terre Haute, Indiana, two daughters; Kay Meadows (David) of Shelburn, Indiana and Ann Morgan (Nick) of Carlisle, Indiana, twelve grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two brothers; Michael Barish (Carol) of Louisiana and Joe Barish (Karen) of New Jersey, sister, Sue Shaffer (Bill) of New Jersey, sisters-in-law; Cathy Barish and Marianne Barish both of New Jersey.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 8, 2020 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sullivan, Indiana with Father John Pfister officiating. Interment will follow in Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan, Indiana. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, August 7, 2020 at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana with an Elks service at 7:00 PM.
