Obituary

Ned Jackson "Jack" Overby

June 17th 1953 to November 22nd 2021

Jack left us to go fishing on a quiet lake on 11/22/21. He served his country at the Air Force Academy from 1971 to 1973, and then went to Indiana State University. He carried the mail in Sullivan Indiana from 1974 until he retired in 2011. Jack was known for watching out and caring for the people along his twelve mile route. Jack also owned J & L Furniture in Shelburn, and 11 rental properties in the area. He practiced his faith by serving the First Christian Church in Sullivan, running their audio for several years.

An avid bass fisherman, Jack won several tournaments and founded Sullivan County Bassers. He was a lifetime member of Bassmasters, the National Rifle Association, and Friends of the Air Force Museum.

Jack was the type of friend, brother, and uncle who, if you asked anything of him, you knew it was done. His parents were Steward and Betty Overby, both deceased. He is survived by his sisters, Linda Overby and Martha Moross, and his brother Loren Overby (wife Ramona McCance), and many nieces, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and one grand-grand-nephew.

The family has opted to have a private celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care at (812)228-7534.
