Phyllis (Vickrey) Sparks

Phyllis Sparks, 94, a life-long resident of Merom, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Springhill Village in Terre Haute, Indiana.

She was born on March 10, 1928, in Merom, Indiana the daughter of Charles Vickrey and Maude St. Clair Vickrey. Phyllis graduated from Merom High School Class of 1946 and was a life-long homemaker. She was a member of Merom United Methodist Church. She was a very nurturing woman who loved having the family join together and spend time with everyone. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 53 years Ray Sparks Jr., twin brother, Philip Vickrey, brothers; Olan, Ross, Lloyd, Hugh, John Vickrey, sisters; Evah Elmore and June Vickrey and special friend, John Pirtle.

Survivors include twin sons; Cary Sparks (Paula) of Terre Haute, Indiana and Gary Sparks (Ann) of Avon, Indiana, six grandchildren; Jeremy Sparks (Amy), Josh Sparks (Erin), Amy Mohr (Justin), Paula Rae Rego, Julie Crouse (Brian) and Brooke Sparks (Hynek Sefranek), thirteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 3, 2023, at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana with Pastor Erich Blevins officiating. Interment will follow in Merom Cemetery in Merom, Indiana. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Friday, March 3, 2023, at Brust Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations be made to the Merom United Methodist Church, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
