Raymond Pirtle, 62, of Sullivan, Indiana passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024 at his home.
He was born on September 11, 1962 in Sullivan, Indiana the son of John Henry Pirtle “J.B.” and Flora Mae Bedwell Pirtle “Porky”. Raymond retired from Allomatic for 35 years. He was the Adjunct for the Sullivan Sons of the American Legion Post #139 for 35 years, member of the Sullivan Moose #2517, Sullivan City Councilman and a Boy Scout Leader for Troop #139 for more than 20 years. Raymond was a four-year State Champion in the American Legion Horseshoe pitching competition. He was a proud Democrat, IU fan, Cincinnati Reds fan, Dallas Cowboys fan and an avid mushroom hunter. Raymond never had a bad word for anybody.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bobby Pirtle, sisters, Gloria Cooper and Virginia “Jo Jo” McCammon, two brothers-in-law; Paul Walters and Clem McCammon and two nephews; Johnny Akers and Kyle Arnett.
Survivors include his brothers; John Pirtle, Bill (Rose) Pirtle, and Jim (Robin) Pirtle, and sisters; Mable Ann Walters, Mary (Dwayne) Collins and Sandy (Terry) Arnett all of Sullivan, Indiana. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana with Pastor Jason Jones and Pastor Steve Hollis officiating. Interment will follow in Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan, Indiana. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 and prior to the service on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
