Richard Keith Martindale, 76, of Sullivan, IN went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 22, 2025. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a 15-month battle with cancer, which he bravely fought.

He was born on November 2, 1948, in Greene County, IN. At the age of 6, he was adopted by a wonderful, Christian couple, the late Wade and Juanita Martindale. He graduated from Sullivan High School in 1967 and from Southeastern Christian Junior College in Winchester, KY, in 1969. He married his college sweetheart, Judy (Marsh), on October 2, 1971, and they were married for 53 years. They had two sons, Bradley Keith (fiancée, Darla Belfi) and Brian Wade (wife, Heather). He loved being Grandpa Richard to two grandsons, Reece and Davis Martindale who filled his heart with joy. He loved mowing with Reece and hunting and fishing with Davis.

During his life, he worked for the U.S. Forest Service for several years as a forest tech, farmed, and owned a used car lot for over 30 years. He also ran a baseball card shop, The Sports Gallery, from 1989-1993.

Surviving Richard are his brother, Bruce Martindale (wife, Karol), of Farmersburg, a sister Bethann Toy (husband, Mark) of Montgomery, IN. He is also survived by four biological siblings, Dee Anne Jones (husband, Stacey), Eva Meurer, Barbara Jean Perez (husband, Emmitt), and JR Turpin (wife, Dorothy). Other survivors include an aunt, Carol Martindale of Ft. Myers, FL, and his Kentucky in-laws, Mike and Martha Marsh, John and Barbara Scott, Joan Marsh, and Roger and Lori Marsh, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, his church family, and many friends.

Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Ken Brackney and brother-in-law, Sam Marsh.

His big heart, filled with unconditional love, kindness, and compassion, led him to be a Kids Hope Mentor at Sullivan Elementary, a Celebrate Recovery encourager at Westside Church and a Brown Bagger volunteer.

Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, making desserts, and following the Green Bay Packers and the Cincinnati Reds, but mostly he enjoyed spending time with his family. He and Judy loved going to their special places, Spring Mill State Park, Mitchell, IN and also to Madison, IN.
