Ronald Joe Baxley

Ronald Joe Baxley, 78, of Carlisle, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on January 14, 1942 in Vincennes, Indiana the son of George and Maxine Davison Baxley. Joe was a graduate of the first class to graduate from L&M High School in 1959, where he played basketball and baseball. He married Dharla LeDune on May 4, 1962 in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Joe retired after 26 years from the US Air Force as Chief Master Sergeant E9. He currently worked at the Community Natural Gas Company in Carlisle, Indiana and was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Joe was a member of the Carlisle Christian Church, Linton VFW Post 7118 and the Linton American Legion Post 22.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, loving wife of 52 years, Dharla Baxley, grandson, Greg Ellett, three brothers; Dennis Baxley, George Baxley and Carlos Baxley and sister, Frances Donaldson.

Survivors include three sons; Timothy Baxley of Carlisle, Stanley Baxley of Carlisle and Richard Ellett of Carlisle, daughter, Kimberly Ellett (Terry) of Bloomfield, Indiana, grandchildren; Derrick Baxley, Cory Baxley, Lance Ellett, Landon Gilmore and Logan (Jesse) Croslow, great-grandchildren; Emma Baxley and Drake Croslow, brothers, Gary Michael Baxley (Marsha) of Carlisle, Indiana and Rick Baxley of Linton, Indiana, sisters; Nina Jerrell (Red) of Linton, Indiana and Carmen Botsford (Conrad) of Linton, Indiana, sister-in-law, Faye Baxley of Dugger, Indiana and brother-in-law, Ronnie Donaldson of Plainfield, Indiana.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Carlisle Christian Church in Carlisle, Indiana with Rev. Bill Samm Phegley officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery in Paxton, Indiana with a Military graveside service. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, January 4, 2021 and prior to the service on Tuesday. Arrangements were entrusted to Brust Funeral Home.
