Roy Loren Dillingham, 80 of Sullivan passed from this life to eternity on Saturday, April 22, 2023.
He was born in Sullivan, IN May 27, 1942, the son of Loren Dillingham and Maxine (Thrasher) Dillingham.
Roy retired from the Sullivan City Police Dept after 31 years of service from 06/01/1965 until 03/20/1996. Where he held several terms as Chief of Police. He also retired from Bob Brown Ford, Morrison Wrecking Service where he drove a wrecker that was named for him “Roy’s Toy” and First Financial Bank as a courier.
He loved his job as a police officer and the City of Sullivan. He had many stories from his years on the Police Force and his fishing escapades especially his famous trip to Canada. He also had a special love for his dogs Lucy and Truly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, also a brother James Dillingham and one grandchild, Michelle Lindsey.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela (Mackey) of 49 years, his children Monya Moreland (Joe) of West Terre Haute, IN, Melanie Miller (Mike) of Dugger, IN, Stephen Blubaugh of California, Jennifer Whitlock of Dugger, IN and Christopher Dillingham (Asanda) of Linton, IN, fourteen grandchildren, Tiffany Brown (Jason), Ross Lindsey, Megan Sappington (Caleb), Ryan Lindsey, Courtney Cooper (David), Ashley Vester, Lacey Ball (Michael), Malorie Howard (BJ), Rachel Whitlock, Gage Mason, Kendra Wilkins, Ryleigh Dillingham, Lucas Dillingham, Irelynn Mason and 14 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1:00PM Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at the IOOF Cemetery in Carlisle with Rev. David Cox officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30AM to 12:30PM Wednesday before the services at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, IN.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Sullivan City Police Dept. in his memory. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
