Indiana State Police Sgt Robert H. Phillips passed from this earth and joined Ruth for a snort of her namesake coffee, at 11:32 pm, Sunday, 1 January 2023.
He is survived by his 3 children: Linda (Todd) Thompson of St Louis, MO, Robert S. Phillips (Terri) of Graysville, IN, Shirley (Jim) Marshall of Oblong, IL and a son in law Dwight Thompson, of Nashville, IN, a niece Janine (Paul) Stier of Fredericksburg, VA, grandchildren Justin (KiKi) Thompson, Molly (Nate) Heininger, Mitchell (Sarah) Thompson, Russ Thompson, Max (Dana) Phillips, Amanda (Jared) Shelton, Ross (Shelby) Marshall, Austin (Rachel) Marshall and 16 great grandchildren as well.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Hazel Phillips, a daughter, Jean Thompson, his parents, Leo and Helen Phillips, a sister Charlotte Politano and brother-in-law Denny Politano.
Bob grew up on "Crick & Brook" dairy farm in Graysville, Indiana. He married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Hazel Springer after graduation, then joined the Army. Upon returning from Korea; he swore off dairy cattle and joined the Indiana State Police for 30 plus years, retiring in 1989.
He enjoyed spending time with the love of his life and their many pets, crop dusting, and fishing. He and Ruth traveled anytime they could, spending a majority of that time on the beaches of Florida and Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Visitation will be held at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, Indiana on Friday, 6 January from 4-8 pm, and 9-10:30 am Saturday, 7 January. Service will be immediately afterwards.
Interment will be at Mann-Turman cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name to : The Greater Indiana Chapter of Alzheimer's Association, or The Sullivan County Humane Society.
