Shirley Fern (Carrico) Hunt

Shirley F. (Carrico) Hunt went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Cobblestone Crossing, Terre Haute, Indiana surrounded by her family.

She was born November 6, 1926 in Dugger, the daughter of William F, and Golda Blanche (Carr) Carrico.  She was a 1944 graduate of Sullivan High School.  She was co-owner and bookkeeper for Hugh C. Hunt Construction Company of Brazil for over 30 years.

She was an artist and fabulous cook.   She made holidays special for her family, especially Christmas. She beautifully decorated the home they built and had extensive flower gardens.  Their home was the neighborhood gathering place.  She was a member of Alpha Omega Chapter of Tri kappa Sorority in Brazil, Indiana, enjoyed playing Bridge and played in the Women’s Golf League for many years. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Hugh C. Hunt, whom she married November 7, 1947; and her parents, sister Gloria Gaston and brother William F. Carrico Jr.

Survivors include one son, Donald (and Nancy) Hunt, Sullivan; one daughter, Peggy (and Tony) Huffines, Brazil; three grandchildren Hugh R. (and Amber) Hunt, Katherine (and David) Shanahan and Hugh Andrew (and Ann) Huffines; and five great-grandchildren, Bryce Lerma, Kelly Jane Shanahan, Grace Elizabeth Hunt, Hugh Curtis Hunt, and Molly Anne Shanahan.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Brust Funeral Home with the Rev. Carolyn Clark officiating.  Visitation will be from 9:00AM until time of services.  Interment will follow in Center Ridge Cemetery.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Sullivan First United Methodist Church or the Clay County Humane Shelter in Brazil, Indiana.
