Thomas Wayne Wernz, 88, of Sullivan, Indiana passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Sullivan County Community Hospital.

He was born on February 1, 1935, in Sullivan, Indiana the son of Rudolph G. Wernz and Jeanette Billman Wernz. Thomas married Sandra Anderson on June 10, 1956. He retired from Hoosier Energy and was a member of the Sullivan First Presbyterian Church, Sullivan Elks #911, NRA and a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge #95.

Thomas is preceded in death by his parents and son, Thomas M. Wernz.

Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Sandra Wernz, daughter, Julia E. Bayley (Calvin) of Anderson, Indiana, brother, Ben B. Wernz of Brazil, Indiana, two grandchildren; Rudolph “Rudy” Wernz (Kailey) and Leslie J. (Cody) Wooten, great-grandchildren; Kazlyn R. Wernz, Rudy R. Wernz, Gracie M. Wernz, and Emma B. Wooten.

Graveside services will be at 11:00AM, Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan, Indiana with Howard Unger officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to Brust Funeral Home.
