Virgil Cooksey Sr., 80, of Sullivan, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2019 at residence.

He was born on April 6, 1939 in Brazil, Indiana the son of Leonard Cooksey and Mae Sutherland Cooksey. Virgil worked in construction and farmed for several years. He loved the outdoors.

Virgil is preceded in death by his parents, two sons; Kevin Cooksey and Virgil Cooksey Jr., brother, Arlie Cooksey and sister, Mary Wyatt.

Survivors include his loving companion of 47 years, Brenda Cooksey, daughter, Gloria Smith of Brazil, Indiana, brothers; Roy Cooksey Jr. of Brazil, Indiana, Harry Cooksey (Pam) of Brazil, Indiana, Cletus Cooksey (Beth) of Diamond, Indiana and Gary Cooksey (Rose) of Ohio, two sisters; Linda June Taylor of Brazil, Indiana and Margaret Grigsby (Charles) of Brazil, Indiana and two grandchildren; Derrick and Chelsie Smith.

A memorial service will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Brust Funeral Home with Rev. David Cox officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the service on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Brust Funeral Home.
