Mary Ann (McCreery) Compton

Mary Ann Compton, 94, of Sullivan, Indiana passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018 at her residence.

She was born on August 11, 1923 in Dugger, Indiana the daughter of Hugh Pete and Ruth (Leach) McCreery. Mary Ann was a lifelong homemaker and she received a degree from Indiana Business College.  She was an active member of First Christian Church in Sullivan, Indiana, Alpha Delphian, member of the Extension Homemakers Club of Indiana, Tri Kappa and the First Christian Church missionary group. Mary Ann’s most intimate passions were her faith, family and mission’s involvement.

Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents; Hugh Pete and Ruth McCreery, her husband, Dr. Harold James Compton on July 2, 1999, her son, James Michael Compton, her son-in-law, Bruce Harmon and her brother, Robert McCreery.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Harmon of West Lafayette, Indiana, two sons, Charles David Compton of Sullivan, Indiana and John Peter McCreery Compton (Marjorie) of Sanatoga, Pennsylvania, ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.

A Celebration of Life will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the First Christian Church in Sullivan, Indiana with Rev. David Cox officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at First Christian Church in Sullivan, Indiana. A private burial at Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to First Christian Church Missionary Unit 6 PO Box 408 Sullivan, Indiana 47882.
