Rose Mary (Brannan) Pershing

Rose Mary Pershing, 91, of West Terre Haute, Indiana and snowbird of Bradenton, Florida passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.

She was born on October 13, 1925 in Terre Haute, Indiana the daughter of Thomas and Sarah (Tyren) Brannan. Rose graduated from Fontanet High School in Fontanet, Indiana. She retired from the U.S. Department of Commerce Census Bureau and Union Hospital where she worked as a cook. Rose was a member of the St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles Post #291, Moose Lodge #1009, VFW Post #972, Wabash Valley Genealogy Club, and Western Riders Club all of Terre Haute. She enjoyed life to the fullest and was very active until recently. Rose loved dancing, researching family history, and most of all traveling.

Rose is preceded in death by her parents, two beautiful daughters; Catherine Ann Cottom and Carol Beth Cottom and loving husband of 20 years, Fred Pershing who passed away December 9, 2009.

Survivors include two sons; Clark Cottom of Sullivan, Indiana and Chris (Darla) Cottom of West Terre Haute, Indiana, two granddaughters; Leigha and Emily Cottom and great-granddaughter to be, Karalena. She is also survived by her dear friends John and Joanne Sinclair of Bradenton, Florida.

She will be laid to rest in a peaceful and private graveside service at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Calvary Cemetery in Terre Haute, Indiana with Sister Betty Hopf, S.P. officiating. Arrangements were entrusted Brust Funeral Home of Sullivan, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Providence, in care of Mission Advancement Office, 1 Sisters Of Providence Road, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, IN 47876.
